WGA Hearts and Minds

I wanted to take the time to say that I support the WGA in its battle against the ATA.

Until the recent negotiations, I did not know that the reason that I could not get an agent was due to the packaging rules that the agents work under.

I'm black, female, over 40 and politically active.  I'm also really bad at networking.  I come from Boston and say what I think.  Never learned the art of schmoosing although I'm getting better at it.  I've been busy working on a project that I optioned.  And I just finished two spec pilots, one with famed director Chris Eyre attached.  I'm just a wonderfu, unemployed writer trying to pay the rent.

But, I've been active in the WGA for a long time and what is at stake goes way beyond money. Way beyond a rent check.

It goes to the heart of what makes us writers.  And if we allow our hearts to continue being chipped away at, we have nothing left.

So, here's to our hearts, mine and yours.

Without them, our scripts have no meaning.

Without them, the WGA has no meaning.

Support the WGA.
